A Brief Note–Pluralism and Coexist in America
President Obama’s inaugural speech for his second term was beautiful. But it wasn’t until I came across this gem of an analysis that I realized just how important it was. Pluralism is a reality in the United States. And Obama, speaking as a Christian while addressing the values of other religions, is a great example of how people can make the ideas of “Coexist” possible. Check out the analysis. It’s amazing.
Regardless of your feelings on the Coexist movement itself, it’s time to recognize pluralism in America. It’s part of what makes this country the great “melting pot” it’s almost always been.
There are different types of pluralism. In the sense of diversity, a person would be hard pressed not to find a pluralistic society anywhere in the world.
